Juncus repens originates from swampy areas of south-east North America. This unique grasslike plant, rather undemanding in cultivation with a flat-sided stem adorned with several narrow and pointed leaves. Under unhindered light and with a good dose of micronutrients, this plant assumes a reddish-brown hue. Under moderate light, it has a pleasant green. Its moderate but constant growth makes Juncus repens an easy-to-handle plant, even though it is a little susceptible for green spot algae. It is propagated by cuttings like other stem plants.
A versatile species that can be used in a wide variety of ways in an aquascape making it an excellent plant and a great background for tanks of almost any size. Alternatively, it can be used as a mid ground accent plant, a hedge, or even for the fore ground if it is kept short.
